Transfer Advisory Counselor (TAC) Program

The Transfer Advisory Counselor (TAC) program provides all incoming transfer students with an upperclass peer mentor. The TAC is your personal guide to life at Duke, from an expert who has recently experienced it! The transfer advisory program helps incoming transfer students adjust to life at Duke. Upon arrival, you will be invited to a catered dinner where TACs will be waiting to greet you. You will have a chance to meet your fellow transfers as well as receive a welcome from the Duke administration. During the week of orientation, the TACs will have specially planned events so transfer students can get to know Duke, Durham and each other. Past events include a Durham Bulls game, an all-transfer barbecue, bowling, and the annual transfer dodgeball match. Transfer orientation is fun and informative, without having the feel of freshman year all over again.

The transfer experience does not end after orientation. Throughout the academic year there are events of all sizes, including the weekly transfer dinner in the Great Hall. The TACs aim to be both friends and mentors throughout the year and beyond. It is a great time to transfer to Duke and enjoy all the new opportunities and experiences our university has to offer!
