Mission:

The purpose of the First-Year Advisory Counselor (FAC) Program is to transition incoming first-year students to college life in order to maximize their experience as a Duke University student and community member.
 

Objectives:

  •      Welcome new students to the Duke University campus community
  •      Connect first-year students and upperclassmen through a peer mentorship program
  •      Expose incoming students to campus resources and provide opportunities for personal growth
  •      Utilize academic resources to maximize the intellectual experience at Duke University
  •      Provide opportunities for student involvement in campus groups and activities
  •      Establish a relationship between Duke students and the local Durham community
  •      Inform and advise incoming students of pertinent challenges that arise throughout university life so that they can make    responsible decisions as a student and community member
  •      Encourage students to take responsibility for improving the Duke community
