Parents' & Family Orientation

Congratulations on your new (or additional) role as a Duke parent or family member! Parents' and Family Orientation provides you the first step in your transition as a member of the Duke family. You will have the chance to meet many of the faculty, staff, and students that your student will interact with during the next four years. The schedule below is designed to assist in your planning and provide a basic overview of the Parents' & Family Orientation. The locations and events are subject to change. A finalized scheduled will be shared in late July via our DukeParents newsletter.

Safety and Security @ Duke
Duke University is a safe environment for students to learn, grow and enjoy their college experience. At Duke, safety and security is a shared responsibility, and students are valuable partners in helping the Duke University Police Department maintain a safe campus community. What can your student do to stay safe? What services and resources are available? How do the Durham and Duke police departments work together? Come meet Duke Police Chief Dailey who will take your questions and discuss ways students can protect themselves and their property at Duke.
